Walter Brennan was one of the all-time great character actors. Walter Brennan did not have a limp; it was a devise. Brennan also did not have teeth. He lost many of his front teeth in an accident on set early in his career. It was said that he was kicked in the face by another actor in a fight scene. After that, Brennan often did movies without his false teeth.

Brennan wore tall open crown hats in most of his movies, but Stumpy is the most remembered.
