Glenn Ford was one of my favorite western actors. He could play a good or a bad guy convincingly and even as a bad guy you couldn't help but like him. Glenn Ford had an easy, relaxed way about him that came through in most, if not all, of his roles. I always thought that must have been the real Glenn Ford personality showing through. I had that belief confirmed when Glenn Ford's son Peter Ford walked into our San Francisco store. He was very nice, friendly and happy to see photos of his dad on the wall along side John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart. And yes, he said his dad was a very easy going, relaxed man and a good father.3:10 to Yuma is often considered Glenn Ford's best western movie and I cannot disagree. Glenn Ford wore the same cowboy hat in many of his best movies. In addition to 3:10 to Yuma he wore that cowboy hat, or one just like it, in The Fastest Gun Alive, The Sheepman, Smith!, Jubal, 3:10 to Yuma, Day of the Evil Gun, The Rounders, The Violent Men, The Last Challenge, Lust For Gold, The Americano, The Secret of Convict Lake, and The Redhead & The Cowboy. Glenn Ford was at his best in western movies and said he found it very easy doing westerns. That's because Glenn Ford could ride and shoot as well as the stunt men. It is said that Glenn Ford could draw and fire his colt in 4 tenths of a second. That was faster than Johny Wane or James Arness and many others. Glenn Ford was a real cowboy and he wore a real cowboy hat.
