The true Derby. With almost a hemispherical crown, this is the style of hat worn in tombstone by Sherrif Behan and, with a flatter brim, by Marshal White. They are also seen in many original photos. This style was particularly popular in the mid 1800's. The taller derbys became more popular in the 1880's and 90's, several hats of this style appeared in the movie Open Range.
"I'm the man to see. Besides County Sheriff I'm also tax collector, Captain of the Fire Brigade and Chairman of the Non-Partisan Anti-Chinese League. Yup, a man of many parts" -
